So I jump into the 2009 Arena Tournament to have a little fun. Luckily my buddy Bolink jumps into the fray with me to make our unstoppable never over 1500 fun 2v2 team. We have a great time and have found that we don’t play enough to compete seriously – but hey! Ya get to play anything you want. Take it for a test drive if you will so it’s worth it.
Keep in mind my highest leveled character is a 72 Hunter named Fruehoff and been survival for just about my entire WoW career. During that time I’ve gone days without facing another SV spec hunter in battlegrounds and actually meeting people at 70 that didn’t know the deep survival capabilities. When we played in last year’s tournament, I was most certainly the black sheep on any arena team. Ridiculed for speccing that way and asking of me what only BM’s could do.
So you would expect the same scenario at level 80, right? Just the opposite has happened…EVERYONE AND THEIR BROTHER is not only SV/mm , but DEEP survival with a touch of marksmen. “Oh, so now we see the advantages of ranged crit?” Post WotLK talent trees smile kindly on PvP survival freaks.
Practically all the new talents amplify the key stats of the PvP epic gear; primarily Stamina. If you want it, you go to PvP honor gear to attain it, and that’s where the nudge to our attack power comes from. Give us a clicky Dot nuke and things just drop. You mix arcane explosion and aimed in any rotation coupled with wyvern sting and immolation trap on one foe = foe is dead if not healed or me cc’d – forget our pets, worry about us.
So I wonder how many more times Blizzard will alter our precious talent builds. I fear the next restructuring will nerf our new powers. Giving it to marksmen perhaps – giving them DEATH SHOT. Every 5 min you are granted a shot that has a 50% hit chance and drains all yer mana, but kills your target DEAD if it hits – who knows!?
All this attention survival is getting makes me want to run a different build. It’s just not the same in game to not be harassed for choosing an inappropriate build. If you find this put up what you think the best builds are for raiding / PvP. Also, what are your predictions on what future patches will bring?
